The American Red Cross added two new mission-critical vehicles to its fleet thanks to recent donations made by the Melaleuca Foundation.
To help the American Red Cross continue its mission, Melaleuca made substantial donations to help purchase a custom-built Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) that brings supplies to families suffering at the frontline of natural disasters, wherever that may be across the country. The Melaleuca Foundation also assisted with the purchase of a specialized vehicle critical to the American Red Cross’ biomedical programs, which provide hospitals with lifesaving blood products among other things.
“Melaleuca has worked closely with the American Red Cross over the years to relieve suffering and provide hope to those affected by natural disaster, emergency and catastrophe,” Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot said. “These specialized vehicles will enhance the lives of people who are most in need and be a tremendous resource for the entire region as the American Red Cross continues to run to the rescue.”
Delivering comfort to the frontline
A longtime supporter of the American Red Cross, Melaleuca’s financial gift to purchase a new ERV enables the humanitarian organization to reach the frontlines of a disaster to deliver comfort, support, and supplies to victims who are often cut off from other services. Among its many features, the ERV is equipped with onboard internet for critical on-site casework and side windows for food and supply distribution.
“This new vehicle will deliver the supplies and comfort families need at a time when they are most vulnerable,” said Red Cross Disaster Program Manager Scott Davis. “It has features like WiFi, large feeder windows and external lighting that will help our teams better serve their communities during difficult times.”
As a result of the donation, Melaleuca was the only company to have its logo branded on this American Red Cross ERV.
Transporting lifesaving blood
In addition to the ERV, Melaleuca was also the key sponsor for a Dodge Grand Caravan that provides critical transportation support for blood drives. The van carries supplies and personnel to-and-from blood drives and delivers blood for distribution to hospitals and cancer treatment centers.
Knowing that donating one unit of blood can save up to three lives, Melaleuca has been a longtime blood partner of the American Red Cross.
Partnering with the American Red Cross
Melaleuca has a long history of supporting the American Red Cross, with The Wellness Company’s “run-to-the-rescue” philosophy playing a critical role in many relief efforts. Melaleuca quickly mobilizes when major disasters strike, and it is often seen working side-by-side with the American Red Cross to provide relief at natural disasters.
In 2019, The American Red Cross of Idaho named Melaleuca its Corporate Partner of the Year.
