Always willing to support first responders who put their lives on the line, Melaleuca has sent a variety of supplies to help firefighters battle the 416 Fire burning outside the town of Durango, Colorado. More than 1,000 firefighters have worked day and night to contain the fire, which has been burning for more than three weeks.

The Wellness Company has delivered Simply Fit™ Snack Bars, Energy Kick shots, Triple Antibiotic Ointment and Sun Shades® Lip Balm to aid crew members who are working to extinguish the blaze.

Melaleuca Executive Director 3 Melinda Lough, who lives in nearby Farmington, New Mexico, volunteered to deliver the supplies to the firefighters.

“Valiant men and women are working around the clock to fight this fire, and they’re absolutely exhausted,” Lough says. “They need all the support they can get, and these Melaleuca products will go along way in helping them perform an extremely dangerous task.”

The 416 Fire was first reported on June 1. Since then, it has burned more than 34,177 acres just north of Durango and forced the closure of the San Juan National Forest.

As of Thursday, June 21, the fire was only 37 percent contained and continued to threaten nearby structures. So far more than 2,100 homes have been evacuated, and several hundred more residences have been warned that they may have to evacuate as well.

Over the years, Melaleuca has developed a reputation of stepping up and providing relief in times of natural disaster, including several wildfires. Last year alone, Melaleuca sent aid to victims and firefighters dealing with blazes in California, Colorado, Idaho, Tennessee and Alberta, Canada.
