Melaleuca Delivers Cleaning Products to Louisiana Flood Victims

A truckload of Melaleuca supplies arrived in Louisiana today in an effort to help the victims of catastrophic flooding. More than 2,500 total care packages containing over $600,000 in Melaleuca products were unloaded and handed out to beleaguered yet grateful crowds at two of the hardest-hit locations in Livingston Parish and Ascension Parish.

Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot posted several photos of the operation on Twitter:

Dozens of Melaleuca’s Marketing Executives who live in or near the flood zone spent a grueling day handing out the supplies. They, along with Melaleuca customers and other Louisiana residents, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Melaleuca for quickly rushing to their aid.

The devastating flood has displaced tens of thousands of Louisianans, many whose homes are a total loss. The Red Cross has declared the situation America’s worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

The amount of downpour that caused the flooding is completely staggering: 31 inches of rainfall in just 15 hours. During the week of August 8–4, nearly 7 trillion gallons of rain descended—enough to fill over 10.4 million Olympic-size swimming pools.

So much water leaves a terrible mess behind. Experts in disaster recovery caution that mildew and mold can start growing within 24 hours after flooding, which is why Melaleuca rushed to the scene with cleaning supplies.

The care packages also contained Melaleuca Natural Insect Repellent, a DEET-free product powered by five essential oils.
