Making a Difference in the Lives of Children

In the heart of Ecuador’s capitol city stands a special orphanage called the Santa Lucia Children’s Home. It’s a haven where abused, abandoned and orphaned children can receive the love and attention they deserve in a clean, safe and peaceful environment.

My family and I have been to the Santa Lucia Children’s Home several times, and the children’s loving spirits and bright smiles have touched our hearts. I was impressed by the way these children were organized into loving “casas” and family units at this orphanage. I noticed this created a sense of belonging while allowing the older children to mentor the younger ones.

Last year, the Melaleuca Foundation became the sole financial sponsor of this orphanage. We felt this aligned with our foundation’s mission—to do good where good is needed, to restore hope and to enhance lives. Since then, many within the Melaleuca family have donated to enhance the lives of these children, and we appreciate their generosity! But we still have a long way to go to fulfill our mission.
